Expo Come and Gone...
Well the 2006 Integra Type R Expo has come and gone, and Team Tuna was there to represent the stupider side of track events.
Not surprisingly everyone got drunk, I blew my motor on the first session warm up lap, and Mike hit on every one of his students. (And no they were not women). Expo is really a different kind of track event, as it brings out tons of beginners with little to no track experience and is better known for the partying than the driving.
Instructing this year, I noticed a few things that I have been lucky enough not to run into previously. First and foremost are students that don't really listen to me. Yes, it is hard to hear, and yes it is hard to remember everything that I am saying... however there is no excuse for hand motions saying slow down well before the third brake marker, and going off course because you didn't break in time or enough.
Now really I should have told the student that its time to start listening, or time to get off the track. But I didn't, and he didn't hurt himself or his car, but he could have.
Trying to drive fast, is a sure ticket to driving slow. More thoughts later...
